01/31/2012 - SeeFront 3D receives “Landmark in the Land of Ideas” 2012 Award.
SeeFront’s unique glasses-free 3D technology has won the “Landmark in the Land of Ideas” Award in the nation-wide competition “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas” 2012. Additionally, SeeFront has been chosen by the jury as one of three nominees in the category Economy for the National Award (Bundessieger).

Christoph Grossmann (57), Founder and CEO of SeeFront: „The whole SeeFront team is very happy about this award. The fact that SeeFront’s glasses-free 3D technology has also been nominated for the National Award underscores the importance of this future-oriented technology. We understand this as recognition for SeeFront’s success as well as motivation for the further development efforts of SeeFront 3D.“

SeeFront 3D Technology: 3D without glasses
The patented SeeFront 3D technology allows the user to view 3D content without special 3D glasses. An integrated eye-tracking system detects the user’s position and transmits it to the 3D engine. This engine combines the images for the left and right eye in a special way and in real time. An optical filter in front of the display generates a brilliant, compelling 3D impression. As the 3D image is continuously adjusted according to the user’s position, the user enjoys freedom of movement in all directions. The SeeFront 3D technology is perfect for entertainment or professional use by a single viewer with a mobile device, a laptop computer or a desktop monitor.

About SeeFront
SeeFront GmbH was founded in 2006 by German engineer and architect Christoph Grossmann. The company located in the heart of the city of Hamburg has five employees. SeeFront develops and licenses a unique technology for glasses-free 3D that has been presented internationally at various trade fairs and conferences. Among SeeFront’s customers are renowned companies from automotive, medical and consumer electronics branches.

The Initiative Germany – Land of Ideas
Under the patronage of the German President, since 2006 the nation-branding initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas” has cooperated with Deutsche Bank to reward ideas and projects that make a lasting contribution to Germany’s future viability. The 365 „Landmarks" are chosen to represent the wealth of ideas and ability to make things happen, as well as bring the innovative power of Germany to life day after day. Land of Ideas Landmarks are not towns and villages in a geographical or political sense – they are to be found wherever innovations are created and developed. The jury consisting of scientists, science managers, journalists and politicians chose the most promising ideas for the future from more than 2000 applications in the six categories Economy, Culture, Science, Environment, Education and Society.

12/23/2011 - 2011 exciting and successful year for SeeFront.
2011 was an exciting and successful year for SeeFront as we had several good news to share.

In March, SeeFront and partner ACL GmbH exhibited compelling glasses-free 3D at CeBIT in Hannover. In media coverage before CeBIT, SeeFront 3D technology was featured in German weekly newspaper Die Zeit as well as on TV Channel n-tv (both available in German only).

As a growing company SeeFront moved to new premises as of May 1st. The new office in Hamburg’s city center allows us to grow further and the beautiful view over Lake Alster is something to look forward to every day.

At IFA in Berlin in September, Sony presented the new 3D Panel for new models of Sony’s personal computer Vaio S-series notebooks. The easy-to-handle 3D Panel turns the notebook into a 3D display for watching 3D Blu-ray movies and viewing 3D photos – without special glasses. This product is based on SeeFront’s unique glasses-free 3D technology. Among the media reporting on the launch were Heise Online (in German) and industry report dvd-intelligence.com (in English). The latter even proclaimed SeeFront 3D technology to be “the best 3D rendering without glasses”.

Only a few days after IFA, Daimler unveiled the Mercedes-Benz research car F125! at IAA in Frankfurt. Crammed with next-generation technology, the vehicle features a glasses-free 3D instrument cluster for the driver – based on SeeFront 3D technology.

In October, SeeFront researchers successfully concluded a development project for switchable 2D/3D displays. This project was supported by the Central Innovation Programme SME of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Also in October, the Hamburger Abendblatt published a sizeable report on SeeFront and company founder Christoph Grossmann (in German).

The SeeFront team wishes to thank our business partners and everyone connected with or interested in SeeFront 3D technology for their cooperation and continued support. We wish you happy holidays and a wonderful 2012!

While the 3-dimensional display of certain information for the driver is designed to be intuitive and enhance safety and comfort, it is clear that this can only be achieved with a glasses-free 3D solution. “The future of 3D is glasses-free”, believes SeeFront’s Founder and CEO Christoph Grossmann. Fields of use for glasses-free SeeFront 3D range from Sony’s new 3D Panel for Vaio S-Series for viewing 3D Blu-ray movies or 3D photos to medical applications.

10/06/2011 - dvd-intelligence.com: SeeFront „the best 3D rendering without glasses“.
Independent industry report www.dvd-intelligence.com compares different 3D display technologies exhibited at IFA in September 2011. In his “IFA Report: How far away is the Promised Land of glasses-free 3D?” editor-in-chief Jean-Luc Renaud features SeeFront’s glasses-free 3D technology that was shown at IFA in the form of Sony’s new 3D Panel for Vaio S-series notebooks. His assessment of the technology: “The autostereoscopic 3D effect was remarkable. Indeed, the best 3D rendering without glasses I have seen to date.”
